HELI unveils a poetic and energetic new single ‘Who Saw The Funk Die On The Street?’, followed by a stellar music video

Defying genre boundaries with his unique writing style and distinctive sound, Brazilian Estonia-based artist HELI is an undeniable force emerging on the scene today. He’s now ready to share his new single ‘Who Saw The Funk Die On The Street?’. A blend of alternative pop and indie rock sensibilities, the track is an emotive reflection on a long journey of depression throughout his life.

In his own words, HELI describes the single as “A way to tell my saviours that I broke through, that I went into an alternate dimension and finally got relieved from all that incredible sadness.”

The music video is a masterpiece of art, combining make-ups, multiple locations and dance choreography with masterful skill. Initially weird and aggressive the video evolves with eclectic contrast, featuring seductive splices of modern dance from its expressive vixens. The video is treated as a storytelling piece with an intro that is not featured on the song. Its most striking feature, the various set designs, all intertwined together like a steroid version of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This engaging visual component illustrates the depression, despair, sadness and anger that permeated his entire life until he finally understood the meaning of life: to be kind, to do meaningful things.

ABOUT HELI
After at least a decade of turbulence and emotional struggle, Heli left everything behind: a life, a wife, the disguises – and jumped into the unknown of making music.

After avoiding it for so long because he had lost half his hearing, there was no other choice left but to say what he needed to say. Born to be a storyteller, he leaves little notes behind like a trail of sweetness. Through his music, he tells his history: one of great distress and terrible losses, but also one of insane adventures and just so much love.

With no background in music, he spent countless nights and hundreds of hours crafting his sound. After being a writer for 15 years, nothing is more important than the lyrics and the story it tells. Words change us, and through so much pain and so many mistakes in life or otherwise: he has arrived.
