Hustle Souls release new single ‘Ladidada’

Hustle Souls

Hustle Souls, the soul group out of Asheville, North Carolina, released their new single ‘Ladidada‘ —and it’s the first off of a brand new EP Walking Off the Plank that they’ll be releasing later this summer.

The new single, which is tastefully paired with a coinciding new music video, takes a step away from the sound of their previous EP. To this point, we’ve know the group for their upbeat horn-filled retro jams. But with ‘Ladidada’ we see another side of the group. The song takes a heartfelt, vulnerable approach—brought to life by acoustic guitar, upright bass and brushes on minimal percussion.

When COVID put a halt to touring, lead singer Billy Litz, embraced the slower pace and wrote a batch of intimate songs that reflected on the changes he saw happening in the outside world. In their words, the new EP “dives deep into politics, loss, substance abuse, loneliness, unemployment, the murder of George Floyd and more. But as dark and serious as this album does go at times the overarching theme found in the sounds and words is resiliency and joy in the face of tough times.”

In a world of modern music where “everybody sounds the same”, it’s a breath of fresh air to see a band diversify their own catalog confidently and early on in the life of the project—and doing so while maintaining a stance of meaningfulness in the thematic makeup of the music.

You can listen to the new single ‘Ladidada’ below—and follow Hustle Souls for the full EP release later this summer.
