Immi Dash puts her own twist on contemporary R&B with latest single ‘Show Me’

Immi Dash music nods to a mix of inspirations, ideas and even nationalities. Born in Scotland, raised in America now based between the creative community of Stroud and vibrant Liverpool, it’s no wonder why her music is unique and breaks down a rigid R&B genre barrier. Her latest offering ‘Show Me’ features her signature sound. Heart-warming synths and backing vocals dance between each other providing the perfect foundation for her smoky, soulful voice to paint a picture on the top. The tracks main purpose is to provide a message, and allow her music to be a space where other can connect.

Discussing this she shares: “For me, this song represents me embracing my style and attitude as an artist. I feel that Show Me has given me more direction with where I want to go with my music. It’s up for interpretation, however you want to perceive the song. But, Show Me is about asking someone you’re beginning a relationship with to be clear with what they want from you. I found that I used to spend a lot of time in the early stage/talking stage of a relationship just wondering whether the person is even into me. I got to a point where I wanted to be straight up and ask “is this really what you want?” And if not, move on. So, Show Me is about asking someone to really reveal and show how they’re feeling. I’ve found that if it’s the right person, you shouldn’t even have to question it. You know what they say, “if he wanted to, he would”. So the message is, if they’re not being straight up with you, they can politely move along. Got no time for games…

She’s found her stride on the UK scene, becoming a regular campaigner at Liverpool’s Future Yard and Jazz Stroud Festival, as well as putting on performances at Boomtown, WOMAD and more. With so much live experience, and the music to back it up, we can’t wait to catch her on a tour. “Performing is one of my favourite parts of music because it helps me to make that connection with an audience,” Immi shares. “The best feeling in the world is when someone sings the words of your song back to you. It means that they have heard, and you get to share that moment with them too.”
