Nashville Indie Artist ‘Jah Frida’ releases visuals for his latest single ‘Catching On/Catching Up’. Jah Frida blends musical influences from Indie, RnB, Hip-Hop and Psychedelic to create refreshing new sounds.
Catching On/Catching Up’ is no different, a bright Alternative Indie Pop track that’s juxtaposed with its lyrical content. The track takes the perspective of a friend/family member who is trying to reach out to someone who has stopped keeping in contact. Inspired by Jah’s own experience with a family member with mental illness, it narrates the attempts to make contact to ‘catch up’ but never quite working out.
Backed by shimmering synths, a smooth bassline and an infectious lead guitar that follows Jah Frida’s effortlessly sleek vocal performance. The result is a colourful track that conveys a sense of serenity, the accompanying music video adds to this further, seeing Jah Frida on a beach talking directly to the camera as he seemingly tries to reach out a helping hand to whoever needs it.
Hailing from Nashville, while spending his formative years in Dallas, Texas, Jah Frida was raised in a multicultural household and city which he attributes to his eclectic musical influences. Having been releasing music since 2018, Jah Frida has been steadily experimenting with his sound while growing his audience, with the release of his latest single ‘Catching On/Catching’ up, Jah looks to further add depth to his ever-growing discography.
