‘Instincts’ instantly grabs our attention with heavy beats and a passionate vocal performance from Aiko

Inspired by a beat from the song ‘Rock’n’Roll’, Aiko collaborates with the producer Steven Ansell, also known from the band Blood Red Shoes.

Combining influences of pop and rock, the song is heavily based on drums and vocals and begins Aiko’s new musical era, with an album release following at the end of the year.

‘Instincts’ instantly grabs our attention with heavy beats which deliver a catchy melody and this perfectly compliments Aiko’s passionate vocal performance.

The single talks about how we should listen to our inner instinct and trust our gut – even when we can’t explain why we’re feeling that way.

Time will always tell the truth.

The singer describes that “In the last years, I have learned to listen to that little voice inside and trust my intuition – be it relationships, where I’m going to live, or smaller, everyday decisions. I often do things just because I feel it should be that way. And so far, it’s been working out for me, things always fall into place!”.

The music video depicts Aiko going down to the altar and realising at the last minute, that this isn’t what she wants. Upon the realisation, Aiko embarks on the path of self love and discovery, appreciating her solitude and finding her power inside.

The visuals are just as appealing especially as they present us with multiple versions of Aiko, each of which are relevant in order to tell the story that exists within the lyrics.

Directed by Ondřej Urbanec, the music video was filmed in a Bohemian Gothic Church.
