Irish singer-songwriter Aural Air releases her latest single ‘Night By Night’ ahead of upcoming EP ‘Imagined Pastures’

London-based Irish singer-songwriter Aural Air, known by her birth name Laura Rai, has been a unique voice in the music scene, celebrated for her ethereal and expansive guitar and vocal melodies. Ahead of the release of her highly-anticipated EP ‘Imagined Pastures,’ Aural Air releases her latest single ‘Night By Night’.

The 5-track offering sees Laura curate a collection of tracks that in her words is “a collection of songs surrounding themes of mixed identity and the poetic dialogue and nature of rural Ireland. The songs aim to depict the pervasive opposition of the Atlantic sea with internal forces both musically and lyrically.”

Already, Aural Air has released two singles from the EP, ‘Painted by Numbers’ and ‘Karman Line,’ both tinged with nostalgia for people and places lost across generations. Now, the EP is set to introduce ‘Night by Night,’ a haunting and enigmatic dream-folk track. This single, dropping ahead of the EP, beautifully encapsulates the debris of a past relationship in the face of a future renewal.

Aural Air’s creative process shines through in ‘Night by Night.’ Laura Rai explains that “the melody became an affirmation that circled around my mind on loop, in defiance of everything I wanted to move on from.” Layered with heaps of delay and modulation on the guitar, the track becomes a mesmerizing and reflective journey that ultimately morphs into something new

‘Imagined Pastures’ is a musical landscape that immerses the listener in its imaginative layers. The EP boasts distinctive electric guitar work, mystical harmonies, and percussive textures that create an otherworldly sonic experience. Recorded by Darragh Nolan at Asta Kalapa and funded by the Government of Ireland stimulus fund, this EP is a testament to Aural Air’s creative prowess.
