Isla Rico shares the summer-filled joy of ‘Wavelength’

Making moves in music since 2021, Manchester trio Isla Rico made their biggest impact last year, their EP, Eternal Optimist, amassing over 100,000 streams and securing their spots at the likes of The Great Escape and Y Not Festival, plus a few headliners across the UK. Looking to cement this attention with an upcoming tour and further tastemaker praise, Isla Rico is one to watch.

Isla Rico’s latest single ‘Wavelength’, produced by Andy Gannon, captures the glimmering sunny alt-indie-pop you would expect from a band formed in a homemade tiki bar. Their sound is filled with funk-fuelled rhythms, energetic drum fills and a lead vocal drenched in the joy of here and now.

Pop glamour still finds its roots in wistfulness, however, and the band bring spades of subtle melancholy to make the moments of pure euphoria all the more electrifying. Soft grooves are nailed with charming appeal, it’s smiles all round for the perfect heat wave soundtrack.

The band explains, “Recording Wavelength started out how most of our tracks do, cosied up in Andy Gannon’s Manchester studio throwing ideas at the wall. We didn’t know when Cal wrote this song and launched the idea out at us all it would evolve into exactly what we needed! As the song came more and more to life we realised we had something that not only perfectly encapsulated and emoted the band’s ‘carefree good times’ philosophy and message, but also something that musically that classic and timeless, as well as striking all the indie-pop tones that make it equally fresh and current.

We felt it was almost our ‘dancing in the moonlight’ by pure accident! Wavelength is by far our favourite track to date from us and we can’t wait to launch it into the world and spread the positive mindset message!”

‘Wavelength’ is out now!
