Jack White’s Third Man label to open “most incredible vinyl pressing plant in the world”

Jack White’s Third Man Records label is set to open a vinyl pressing plant in Detroit, it has been revealed.

The label released a video this week teasing its plans, mooted since November 2015, promising it to be the “most incredible vinyl pressing plant in the world”.

Last year, Third Man became the first label to play a vinyl record in space. Watch the video here:

Third Man Records was founded by White in Detroit in 2001, establishing its HQ in Nashville in 2009. It’s been the epicentre of White’s own musical output – spanning The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather – in addition to pulling in contributions from some of his favourite artists, including country legend Wanda Jackson. The label also released material by White’s ex-wife Karen Elson, in addition to a limited-edition run of a Laura Marling cover of Neil Young’s classic The Needle & The Damage Done.
