Jamws releases irresistible new single “I Don’t Want To Fall In Love”

Singer-songwriter Jamws has managed to craft a unique and signature sound. Blending swirling ethereal sounds with pop sensibilities, Jamws’s music pays homage to artists such as The War On Drugs and Japanese Breakfast, whilst Jamws still keeps his own unique stamp on his music. His music fully represents him and emotions – a very real and raw sound can be heard within his tracks.

His latest offering comes in the form of single “I Don’t Want To Fall In Love.” Instrumentally the track features a colourful melting pot of playful drums, understated guitar lines and grooving bass lines. His silky smooth vocals land on top, working hand in glove with heartfelt lyrics.

Speaking about the track, Jamws shares: “This is the opening track on the album and feels like a good representation of a tension that runs through the album

This song is about trying to control love and when it happens. I wrote it at a time when I was seeing someone really special but also felt like I wanted to enjoy being single. I’d only recently had my heart broken and the idea of falling in love again felt like too much.

There was definitely a growing tension, the closer I got to the person and that comes through in the song. It’s like I’m kicking and screaming as I’m being dragged into ‘the deep end’ as I call it. There was something resonant about the image of treading water in a swimming pool. Part of me wants to surrender and say ‘well, this is where you are’ so let go, the other part of me is hanging on and thrashing. This is also the opener to the album, which feels very fitting, that tension of wanting and fearing love is a huge part of the record.”

Speaking about his process, he says: “When I write music I try not to think too much about a template. I like to think ‘what does this song need?’ or ‘what world does this song live in?’ It was important to me to have space for full band and solo arrangements, as well electronic producer-y stuff. Artists like Prince and Paul McCartney gave me a lot of confidence to try all kinds of arrangements and not feel restricted.”

He also credits his producer Mikko, who helps him fully capture his emotions within a track: “I got to collaborate with a great producer on this album, Mikko Gordon (The Smile). He and his co-producer Matt, really helped me the best out of these songs. I think we really clicked because we were all on the same page about getting to the essence of each track and amplifying its emotion.”

“I Don’t Want To Fall In Love ” has been released in anticipation of his debut album “Soft”. With such an impactful single, we can’t wait to hear what the album has in store.
