Jessie Reid releases stunning folk single ‘Wake Up’

Today rising singer-songwriter Jessie Reid has unveiled her compelling new single ‘Wake Up’, which listeners won’t be able to get enough of. Staying authentic to her signature folk-inspired guitar style, whilst also exploring new electronic textures, ‘Wake Up’ is an organic and intimate track that emits huge potential. Jessie’s soft crooning wraps around infectious melodies as she delivers stirring lyricism, tugging on listeners’ heartstrings with every word.

Revealing the meaning behind her new release, Jessie says: “I suppose the song is best summarised by the line ’the harder we try, the closer we get to goodbye’. It attempts to recapture some of the frustrations of unsuccessfully trying to fix a relationship. In a way the lyrics represent what I would have said to myself at that moment in time and telling myself to ‘wake up’ to the reality of the situation. There is a sense of anger in the song in some kind of way and I think this is mirrored in the build up towards the end of the song with the heavier use of electronic instrumentation which is something I don’t usually do!”

Since making her debut in 2018, Jessie Reid has made waves on the indie scene. Her latest single ‘Dig’ has amassed over 200,000 streams, with support from Spotify editorial curators and BBC Radio 6, BBC Wales, as well as BBC Introducing in Shropshire. Jessie was shortlisted for the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition and is certainly one to keep your eye on.
