Karlie McKinnon releases new album ‘Part-Time Honey’

Karlie McKinnon just released her first full length album, ‘Part-Time Honey‘. The album is honest, soulful, and puts Karlie’s strong vocals at centre stage. It’s a 9song journey through love, loss, and starting over—with powerful vocals and authentic lyrics that many listeners will be able to relate to.

The title track of the album comes immediately with, ‘Part-Time Honey’, a groovy, bluesy track that feels laid back but has a pointed message. The line “Work a full time job and I’m part time honey” closely sums up the message of the song as Karlie sings about feeling unappreciated in a relationship. It’s a song about giving your all and not receiving anything in return. Next comes ‘Vultures’, a vocal and piano duet made for the big stage. The song really lets her voice shine in a raw, emotional way. It’s a powerful track that gives listeners a taste of Karlie’s vocal talent. ‘River’ comes in toward the middle of the album, with an easy-going acoustic feel that has some bounce with the picking pattern of the guitar.  The album comes to a close with ‘Drink Tonight’ — a song that sends listeners off with an upbeat energy, reminiscent of a night out in Nashville.

Part-Time Honey is more than just a breakup album—it’s about letting go of everything that held her back, including a marriage and a religion. Karlie poured her story into these songs and listeners can hear the authenticity throughout.
