Having spent a couple of years away from the limelight, with his last release coming in the shape of ‘DROWN’ back in 2023, London-based Kaxi returns to releasing as he unveils his latest single ‘Torture’. Co-produced by Andy Strange, who has previously worked with Robbie Williams and Paolo Nutini, the release marks exciting things to come for the fast-rising talent.
Blending jagged guitar work with a moody, though somewhat optimistic production style, ‘Torture’ signals a sharp shift in direction for Kaxi. Whilst reverb-soaked vocals glide effortlessly over funk-oozed guitars, the single sports a wild, gritty backbone without compromising on its grit or clarity. Landing at the crossroads of alt-pop, indie rock, and shoegaze, the release touches on a vast amount of creative sentiments, and it’s all the more exciting for it. ‘Torture’ is a bold step forward for Kaxi as he looks to enrich his back catalogue, and it’ll be exciting to see where he goes from here.
Commenting on the release, the artist shares, “Torture’ isn’t just a single; it’s the start of something deeper. A reminder that vulnerability sounds powerful, this track is about owning your pain and finding freedom. It’s ugly, it’s beautiful – just like growth.”
