‘Comfort and Guidance‘ is the debut EP from Australian singer-songwriter Kim Collins. Packed with soulful lyricism and romantic instrumentals, this is an undeniably comforting listen. While the singer-songwriter wrote these songs to “thank God for all he has done” in her life, she leaves the project up to interpretation for her listeners. This EP features elegant harmonies, soulful piano ballads, and relaxing acoustic guitar strumming that transports you to a summer’s night along the beach. Each track is then topped off by Collins’ warm and rich vocals, along with heartfelt lyrics that reveal the singer’s unwavering commitment to God. Collins addresses the support she receives from her faith throughout the project, from the strength provided when hardships arise on ‘All I Need’, to the unconditional guidance she receives in ‘Give it All’. Title track ‘Comfort and Guidance’ also stands out for its captivating instrumentation, with the addition of African style drums to add that extra dimension. Jared Haschek arranged and produced the music and contributed to melodies. Kim produced and performed all vocals. Phil Threlfall also recorded and mixed the tracks at The Base in Melbourne. All in all, there’s so much to enjoy from this EP, and Kim Collins hopes to inspire a little love in all her listeners with this one.
Kim Collins is an Australian singer and songwriter with an extensive broadsheet of experience in the industry. Her path into music was predisposed from the very start, and the singer was already taking from the likes of Diana Ross, Shirley Bassey, Barry White and The Beatles as a very young child. She was involved in musicals as she grew up, and as soon she could, she began her professional career as a session singer. Her velvety vocals would land her on countless projects, including jingles, football albums, movie soundtracks and many hit songs. She even toured as a backing vocalist for Australian band Go101, who were the support act for big names like Wang Chung, George Michael and Whitney Houston. After a move to LA, her performances at respected venues, such as the The Dresden Room in Hollywood, started receiving recognition from many influential names. The singer then moved back to Australia after 12 months to concentrate on songwriting and performing. This time around, Kim Collins is back with her original songs alongside her signature vocals, all wrapped into her first solo EP ‘Comfort and Guidance’, a lifelong dream that’s come to fruition. Offering a brand-new side to the talented and experienced singer, this project sure deserves a great deal of recognition.
