The first three acts have been confirmed for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Hull this summer.
Kings Of Leon, Stormzy and Little Mix will all perform at the two-day event, which takes place on May 27 and 28 in the UK’s City of Culture 2017.
The news was announced on Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 breakfast show this morning. Speaking of the headlining slot, Kings of Leon said: “Looking forward to seeing you in Hull for Radio 1’s Big Weekend at the end of the May. Huge thanks to Radio 1 for leading the charge in helping us get our music to our fans, it’s going to be a great show, can’t wait.”
BBC Radio 1 will announce further acts and ticket details at a later date. In past years fans have been able to apply for tickets through a lottery system, with priority given to people who live locally.
Meanwhile, it has recently been announced that Kings Of Leon are to play a large European festival on the same weekend as Glastonbury. The Nashville band have also been confirmed to headline London’s Hyde Park this summer, with support from Pixies.
