The Mumbai-born, California-raised R&B/Pop singer Kru, brings together the cultures of both her Indian and US influences for her delicate signature sound. Classically trained in opera as well as traditional Indian Bharathanatyam dance, her debut release ‘Pilot’ was brought forth in December 2022, amassing well over 1.5M streams. She now looks ahead to a fresh EP for 2024, made in collaboration with multi-platinum producer Cha Cha Malone.
In a new offering entitled ‘For You I Would’, Kru and Sofia Silvestri bring us an emotional piano ballad that sees soaring vocal lines cry out into a poignant atmosphere. The piano part, performed by Silvestri, sets the scene a track to tug on your heartstrings, with soft counter melodies gentle flowing from bar to bar. Over the top of this Kru brings an emotionally intense vocal line, feeling incredibly natural in her sweeps of dynamics from reserved to roaring. A new section invites us into an angelic soundscape in which floating vocal harmonies surround the chords. Overall, the tracks show more vulnerability than we’ve seen from Kru before, which is an exciting new direction for the artist.
Kru shares, “I really wanted to maintain the fact that this project has been written, produced, and performed by women. Bringing Sofia onto the project fulfilled that for me. Having written with her in the past and seen the way she plays the piano made me think she’d be perfect for the vibe for this song.
This song is about when you fall so in love with a person, all doubts, caution, and worries get thrown out. They are your everything. And all you can do is intensely profess that love while yearning for the same in return.”
With Sofia adding, “It’s been such an honor to take part in the making of this record! Kru’s raw, piercing vocals elevate this record to a whole new level.”
