Kyrah Tay makes a timeless debut with ‘City Girl’

Bringing her own slice of radiant R&B to the city of London, Kyrah Tay has performed alongside the likes of Winnie Ama, Martin Ikin, and Jaymes Samuel, and made an appearance at the Southbank Centre.

Making her recorded debut with the vibrant grooves of ‘City Girl’ Kyrah sets the scene for her soulful touch. Producer Monterey J helps to highlight her personal explorations and self-discovery, whilst Kyrah’s vocals call out to her struggles with the fast-paced city lifestyle.

Emotionally charged, but built on an easy-going groove, the track is a silky slice of talent. As a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Kyrah uses her abilities to captivate and hypnotise, balancing her influences across funk, soul and modern R&B for a truly timeless sound.

Kyrah comments, “I wrote this song last year after playing the piano line, which is how I write most of my stuff. ‘City Girl’ is a story of one of the toughest years for me to date. I’d just left my job, lost my grandmother, and was going through relationship struggles. This song is an expression of feeling lost but also empowered to chase after what you desire.”

With this single, Kyrah opens the door for a follow-up track and her debut EP, both on the horizon, and both set to build up the urban environment of self-discovery she lays out with ‘City Girl’.
