Laurel Violet is a multi-instrumentalist ambient/classical composer, with a new take on the industry that is refreshing and needed. For the longest time this sector of the music industry was hugely male dominated, but now Laurel, amongst others, are rightly fully taking up their places. Not only this, but her unique and signature sound pays homage to multiple channels of inspiration. Her combined love of Bristol’s electronic music scene and her love of classical music has forged to create her own unique and signature sound.
Her latest single “Deep Lake” showcases this sound. The track’s main feature and talking point is an ever changing musical texture. This musical texture is presented with a melting pot of lead piano lines and incredible string arrangements. Her accompanying music video is equally is powerful and will be sure to entice you in even further.
Speaking about the single she says: “Deep Lake is an emotional journey about exploring the feelings that lie under the surface. I wanted the track to express these feelings of chaos and despair, but end in hopefulness and optimism – like a form of catharsis. The dancer in the film expressed these feelings through movement and by throwing herself into the landscape as a symbol of giving up control, and giving into that feeling.”
Her accolades have been huge. The release of her first album ‘Panchaia’ in 2021 catapulted her catalog into the minds of creatives who have since licensed her music for use in media, a sync album on Universal Music has also followed in 2022. With growing recognition, Laurel Violet is doing everything right to get to the top.
