Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi has only put out two songs, but their raw passion has already started burning up millions of hearts and minds. With the release of his third single, ‘Fade‘, it seems he’s finishing the job; tearing down all walls and leaving himself stripped bare, singing his heart out in the most unequivocally desolate manner. Using his rich and soulful voice over delicate piano chords, ‘Fade‘ finds Capaldi brooding the end of a relationship, where he laments about what’s been lost, is confused about what he’ll do now, and disconsolately admits “to tell the truth I can’t believe we got this far.” When he rasps “don’t fade away,” you can hear the utter desperation in his soul, and it clings to you.
