‘Look Alive’ showcases Moon Saloon’s smooth vocals alongside a melody that is equal parts chill and equal parts catchy

Hailing from Brisbane, Australia, the dreamy melodies and sadly beautiful lyrics of Moon Saloon (aka Charlie Grainger) quickly found space on national platforms with 5 star reviews from Triple J Unearthed.

Since the release of her debut EP ‘MARK ST’ in 2020 (an ode to her neighbourhood) Moon Saloon has joined the stage with Australian artists like Stella Donnelly, Charlie Collins and Tim Hart of Boy and Bear fame.

Having only just begun the project as the global pandemic unfolded, Charlie wrote and co-produced her forthcoming EP ‘Apples’.

‘Look Alive’ which also features on the EP showcases Moon Saloon’s smooth vocals alongside a melody that is equal parts chill and equal parts catchy.

Showcasing a range of sonic expressions throughout the album, each song represents a fragment of the whole, like wedges of a cut-up apple.

From the indie-pop feel of ‘Write-off Year’ to the brooding electronica of ‘Waiting/Watching’, the six track EP is an exploration of what it is to be human – reflecting on themes around desire, hope, depression, hindsight, death, and spam emails.
