Luciano Mendonca shares gleaming debut album ‘Sign in the Stars’

Originally emerging as the bass player for Emmerson Nogueira Versao Acustica band in the early 2000s, Luciano Mendonca’s recent solo career has seen him inspired by everything from jazz legends to contemporary standouts. Bringing reflection and passion in all that he writes, Luciano sees everything he experiences as a gift, giving him creative inspiration.

Returning most recently with a debut album, Luciano’s ten-track outing Sign in the Stars is a shimmering representation of who he is as a songwriter. Able to capture ineffable moments through glowing acoustic pop or gritty distorted riffs, the Brazilian-American charges from track to track constantly switching up the sound of the album and introducing new sounds. Joyous brass melodies, fast-paced strings and screaming synths all take their place among the regular arrangement of guitars, bass, drums and vocals. A journey through music, overall, Sign in the Stars is an easy-going album, well worth a listen.

Luciano explains, ”Each track in ‘Sign in the Stars’ is a deeply personal reflection, drawn from my own life experiences and emotions. I also have a unique ability to empathize with others’ feelings, allowing me to craft music that resonates with a wide range of emotions, even those I may not personally be experiencing.”
