Manifesting a buzz with their recent material, working towards a forthcoming four-track something to believe in, and lauded by radio, press, editorial playlists and multiple football teams, Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United, Lucky Iris are seemingly sure-fire bets to make their way to the mainstream.

The duo’s alt-pop sound has brought thoughtful observations and hyperactive synth arrangements to festival stages and support slots, jumping clear of set expectations time after time.

After unveiling a title track teaser for the new EP, the band reignited attention once again as the summer got underway. Now, they unveil their second track ‘universal’, providing their signature balance of energised danceability and soft vocals with a fresh hyper-pop twist. The rich bass pulses and sparkling lead synths are backed with tight breaks. Simple but fearlessly radiant in the explosive moments, ‘universal’ is quick to get under your skin.

Maeve, lead vocalist, adds, “‘universal’ is about watching the world fall apart and wondering whether you’re the only one who can see it. Am I an empath? Or am I just human? Am I overly emotional? Or is everyone else feeling the same way? Is everyone just far better at hiding it?

The issue is it’s really hard to know the answer. So instead I’ll take an online quiz to work out if I’m… going insane… decided by which kitchen and dessert choice I think is most “me”. But, maybe it really is just me. I hope no one else feels this way. I hope it’s just me. Because it doesn’t feel good. But I have a feeling it might not be.”
