Genre-bending group LYR have released their captivating new EP Cascade Theory, bringing a sound unlike anything else on the market. The project of poet laureate Simon Armitage, musician Richard Walters and producer Patrick J Pearson, Cascade Theory is an amalgamation of their creative geniuses.
The group says of their new EP: “Cascade Theory takes a scientific principle and applies it to a social or psychological setting. Things crash into each other – especially thoughts and ideas – and the resulting fragmentation is both bewildering and exciting.”
Indie guitar and percussion lines provide an atmospheric accompaniment for Armitage’s spoken word as the lyrics explore scientific phenomena. Blending rock influences with organic electronic elements inspired by classical minimalist legends, this project provides a lot of food for thought.
