Malik English drops new single ‘Only Me’ with Izumii

23-year-old Trinidadian, Nigerian, Canadian artist and producer Malik English is an artist that grew up surrounded by multiple different cultures, taking elements from all styles of music and injecting them into his own, never coming to a stop at a single genre. He is able to push boundaries in his ability to continue to create better and better tracks from release to release. He’s performed at SXSW, The Apollo, SOBs as well as featuring in Beyonce’s Black Is King.

Malik’s latest release is another testament to his non-stop collaboration, as he pairs up with Izumii for new single ‘Only Me’. Their vocal styles compliment each other incredibly, especially over the highly energetic, aggressive jungle drums the beat is formed around. Their auto-tuned, spacey vocal performances ride the tempo with ease. It’s also got a catchy chorus that won’t leave your head once you’ve heard it.

On the new release, Malik shares, “’Only Me’ is an embodiment of joy, an invitation to escape the pressures of life, and to encourage others to feel comfortable being themselves. No matter if you’re alone or in a group of people it’s important to maintain your sense of self and have fun being who you are. We wanted to motivate people to wild out in whatever way’s cool for them.”

This track showcases two artists that are growing quickly and pushing the boundaries of their music. As a young, black creative, English champions subverting expectations and creating through a lens uninhibited by preconceived notions. He creates a space that brings his message to the world and gets everyone listening.
