Mareya has done it again, delivering the summer anthem we didn’t know we needed with her latest release, ‘Need You Now’. This energetic, saxophone-infused dance track, created in collaboration with Younique, is already making waves on the Dance iTunes charts in Brazil and Australia. Released on June 26, the song combines Mareya’s soulful lyrics with the electrifying beats of Younique, all topped off with a sassy saxophone solo by Keidan Morley. This pop-dance bop is designed to get everyone moving, offering an infectious groove and vibrant energy that’s perfect for summer.
“The work is quite unique with the lyrics exposing a personal vulnerability insofar as they seek to return to a deeper sense of self after a depressive episode caused a disconnect with that,” Mareya explains. “But then it’s quite particular in how the minor key and the beats juxtapose this yearning with such resolution and strength … all toward a climax which is released via an epic saxophone solo of pent-up emotions!”
New Zealand-born and Naarm-based (Melbourne, Australia) Mareya is not just a singer but a prolific producer, songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist. Known for her powerful advocacy for mental health, BIPOC rights, and the dismantling of misogyny, she brings depth and meaning to her music. With a career marked by vulnerable lyrics and stunning melodies, Mareya has now teamed up with Keidan Morley and Younique to create ‘Need You Now’. This track showcases her versatility and artistic growth, and it’s just a taste of what’s to come from this dynamic artist. ‘Need You Now’ is out everywhere now, promising to be the soundtrack of the season.
