London-based alt-rocker Marta Vega delivers ‘BRUISED’, lacing it with hooks, and a cut-to-the-bone attitude, blending a grungy catharsis with a pop soar. Distorted guitars make the moody texture, building from stripped back to a thick and fuzzy chorus.
The vocals are impassioned and soulful, swaying between vulnerability and unstoppable confidence, unfiltered without losing control.
She shares, “A lot of the sounds from the original demo of ‘Bruised’ just stuck—we didn’t want to overwork it. Most of the verse vocals were done in one take, and we ended up keeping that original recording because it just felt real. That dark, moody synth sound is actually a piano we messed with—pitched it down, reversed it, added some distortion. It gave the whole track this kind of haunted vibe that we loved.”
Self-describing as a grunge soul, Marta Vega draws comparisons to Hole, Wolf Alice, and Girl in Red, but her style cuts an original path. Attitude and ache are catching on, as her sold-out shows are matched with a feverish fanbase and Spotify editorial backing.
