Martin Aelred Colgan Turns Poetry Into Music With New Single

Martin Aelred Colgan

Versatile singer-songwriter and performer Martin Aelred Colgan is back with a new single, marking a new collaboration with Hummdrumm Records.

The song ‘Tam O Shanter’ was inspired by a poem from Robert Burns. It was conceived as the final song to a proposed TV Series soundtrack about the poet. The Robert Burns soundtrack was commissioned by James Campbell from the independent label Hummdrumm Records and Martin spent the best part of 6 months producing both a soundtrack and a synopsis for a series about the Scottish Bard and includes arrangements and original interpretations of Robbie Burns best-known works. Martin Aelred wrote and performed his version of Tam O Shanter as a tribute to the late Billy Mackenzie of The Associates and delivers a soaring vocal performance and incredible production which has made this an obvious choice for the lead single off the forthcoming album.

Once again, the multi-talented opera singer shows that he can do everything, including rock tunes.
