London-based singer-songwriter Maria Wilman has released the third single ‘Mastermind’ from forthcoming album ‘Dark Horse’.
There’s a lived-in quality to Wilman’s songs which bristle with the kind of archetypal rock ‘n’ roll swagger that made The Pretenders so compelling and a dramatic flair and retro-pop edge that brings to mind the work of Nicole Atkins and A Girl Called Eddy.
‘Mastermind’ begins with the beautiful and stirring vocals of Maria Wilman that perfectly synchronizes with the gentle but upbeat instrumental melody.
The guitar solo at the two minute mark is simply outstanding and adds to the mellow vibes of the track.
