Mercy’s Cartel unveils the luxuriant single ‘HORIZON’

Writer, producer and engineer Mercy’s Cartel has been tagged as a rising star, receiving widespread acclaim through the radio and press alongside features in Spotify Editorial playlists. Receiving Abbey Road Studio’s scholarship in Music Production and Audio Engineering has allowed Mercy to work in their London studio, learning how to develop her sound whilst working with other artists.

Live, Mercy brings high-octane performances and engaging stage productions, leading to support slots alongside Kojey Radical, Tom Grennan, Tirzah, Etta Bond and Yazmin Lacey. On the festival circuit, Mercy has also graced the stages of Reading, Dot to Dot, Glastonbury and Kendal Calling.

All this dazzling praise leads us to Mercy’s new single ‘HORIZON’, a dark and luxuriant R&B powerhouse, backed by incredible vocal arrangements that elegantly dance around the warm instrumentation. Mercy’s lead line is sultry and addictive, made all the more alluring by the choir of harmony that follows her through the stunning melodies. A thick bass line, reverberant drums and subtle soaring synths add an element of momentous ethereality, launching the music into a transcendent state.

Mercy dives into the single, “I wrote this record after experiencing deep concern for a troubled guy I was seeing after a sudden period of “ghosting” when I lived in Bristol. It turns out he was literally in London in crack houses, shooting up heroin and dealing with demons that had nothing to do with me.

‘HORIZON’ is my ode to the nostalgic pull of the 80’s synth-wave era with a poignant narrative of love, substance abuse, and the intoxicating escapism found in the city. The lyrics tell a story of forlorn love and self-destruction, exploring the dark allure of substance abuse as a coping mechanism.”
