Michaela drops new single ‘Cuffed’ alongside Dominiquinn

‘Cuffed’ is the newest single from New York Born Michaela, exploring relationships and their downfalls. Featuring Dominiquinn, the single is Michaela’s finest work yet. Now residing in LA, we caught up with Michaela about her single:

I thought being in a relationship would give me the sense of stability I craved, but falling in love was something I never bargained for. Love complicates everything.”

Next wave neo-soul artist Michaela makes music to lift hearts and empower. An immersion in the gospel sounds of the church nurtured and developed her sonic palate from a young age. She transposes that same uplifting sense of community she grew up with into her own music, combining artistry with personal, meaningful, and powerful messages of identity and inclusivity. Michaela’s music is a multi-layered unpacking of her own identity, deconstructing the process of categorizing people, bodies, and ideas to discover self-love. The purpose of her art is to inspire, embrace and bring together communities, which she has fully embodied in performances at music festivals, charity events, and artist showcases.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of SZA and Jhene Aiko, Micheala continues to refine her unique sound and story through independent production. Her recent singles ‘Unavailable’ and ‘Tongue Tied’ bring a fusion of soul, R&B, hip-hop, and electronic sounds to contort the boundaries of neo-soul. Michaela’s upcoming EP ‘Cuffin Season’ rolls on from the Spring love story of ‘Tongue Tied’ into an exploration of winter relationships; a beautiful expression of seasonal love and its ever-changing nature.
