Prog collective Morpheus Project, headed by the multi-talented creative Mustafa Khetty, return with their emotive new single ‘Steal For What?’
Taken from their upcoming 7-track album ‘On The Edge’ due for release on the 16th of August, ‘Steal For What?’ offers listeners an insight into the collective’s rich sound and conscientious lyrical commentary. The track serves as the emotionally charged centrepiece of the album, delivering an explosive commentary on the pervasive corruption and wealth inequality plaguing our world. The track dissects the core of the issue with sharp precision. The band’s signature multifaceted instrumentation and complex melodies are ever-present, weaving layers of flamenco-inspired nylon-strung guitars with punchy drum grooves and subtle electronic swells, resulting in a sonic fusion that’s difficult to pin down. At the helm of the composition is an urgent and yearning lead vocal, delivering venomous lyrics that create a melodic yet pointed central hook, surrounded by tight harmonies.
Speaking about the single, Mustafa shares: ‘Steal for What?’ is emotionally charged and is based on personal experience of having experienced blatant theft and the slow process of apathy and enduring delay in the justice system. First-hand witnessing of corporate greed, public apathy, and ineffective legal methods has unleashed haste to alarm. Every fibre of my being trembles with indignation at these soulless politicians and government officials feasting on our suffering, their gluttony insatiable, their disregard for morality is unfathomable. It is a universal plea to damn the thieves and hold them accountable, seeking for a system change that can be effective to punish them for their crimes.”
