OUR MOTHER share latest track, ‘Just Don’t’

London quartet OUR MOTHER are one of those rare and fascinating groups you can’t quite define with usual band logic. Where did they come from? What are they? What exactly is it that they do? How does one pigeonhole them? Tough questions, all. Your average four-piece they certainly ain’t; even more so that they record and rehearse in a bedroom. But don’t let that put you off. Oh no.

Coming to life, glittering with synthesised horns that sound like the heralding of a brand new day, ‘Just Don’t’ segues effortlessly into a relaxed, Sunday morning bass drum ‘n’ handclap backbeat, interspersed with fluttering synth-strings that will leave butterflies doing a happy little dance in your brain. Ethereal vocals imploring ‘don’t look back / don’t ever look back’ complete a breathy, fresh soundscape that really is minty toothpaste to the ears. A quick flirtation with traffic-in-Hackney hi-hat sixteenths, lending just enough of a sense of urgency to lift the dynamic of the track without imposing on it, and an obligatory bass-droppin’ wob-wob bit and then we’re back once again to the happy climes of London Fields on a sunny Sunday. Ahhh. Just Don’t not buy this, okay?
