Up and coming indie rock trio Mouth Culture have seen success across Spotify Editorial playlists and national radio, with Radio 1, Kerrang, Radio X and Triple J all taking an interest. These placements have led to impressive streaming success, with 2 million streams on Spotify alone being attributed to the band.
The new single from Mouth Culture is entitled ‘Don’t Pull Up’. We see the band take on both a gritty, aggressive rock banger and a spacey, melancholic and melodic indie rock bop. In the chorus, the vocal performance is hardened and frustrated, while in the other sections, its much more tame, whilst still keeping the same attitude. The instrumentation follows suit, with heavily electric guitars swapping between heavy distortion and a drenching of chorus. The drums and bass tie it all together, keeping the dynamic energy at the forefront of our experience.
The band share, “Don’t Pull Up is a straightforward head-bop anthem, saturated with attitude. The verses carry mischievous energy through a chest-punching bass-line and provocative vocals, as the chorus explodes into a seismic release of soaring guitars with an electrifying presence.
The song was written in an evening of heightened emotion following the abrupt and unexpected departure of one of our band members. In the midst of the chaos, the looming question of ‘what now?’ injected passion and authenticity into the track, cementing the message as well as the connection between us – that no matter the hurdle, we can still write music that sonically and lyrically represents us.”
