Tony Tyrrell has been flirting with releasing his own music for some time, but finally has come to the realisation that what he has is definitely worth sharing, and we agree. Mocking Bird is the last single before his upcoming album conviction which is due out on the 12th of August. An exciting time indeed for the Dublin native, as he begins his career with a bang.
Mocking Bird is one of those songs that sounds like a classic from the beginning. It has that epic-ness that we all crave to hear in a song, and the music video which was released today shares the same emotional depth throughout. The track was produced by the notable Tommy McLaughlin (Soak, Villagers) and it’s got quality written all over it.
With notes of Dire Straits, The National and Leonard Cohen, we’re confident here at Music Crowns that the whole album is going places, as it should for music that is clearly straight from the heart. While ambiguous in it’s nature, there is a hidden meaning somewhere in there that Tyrrell leaves up to the listener. Speaking on the track he says:
“This one is personal, reflecting a life experience that struck a chord. The sweep and depth of the production captures the sort of all enveloping feeling I had – the song has a relentless drive towards an inevitable end.”
