NIA proves why she’s the next indie RnB sensation with her ambiently smooth single ‘Distant Colors’

After the successful release of her debut EP, THERAPY, Alt-RnB singer-songwriter, artist and producer NIA has shown us the strength in her soulfully demure vocals in her latest single, Distant Colors. Her unique take on RnB allows the roots of the genre to pull through in her light vocal timbre, but with the wavy indie guitar tones that ring through the ambiently colourful production, NIA well and truly came into her own.

The Philadelphia-based artist was born in Queens to her Trinidadian parents. She started producing beats during her junior year of high school. During this time, she also started to perform locally and collaborate with other artists.

In 2021, she has her own live band, The Chill Room Band, and her own record label, Chill Room Records. Notably, she has the talent, emotional intelligence and the motivation it takes to make it as an indie RnB artist and producer. There is something so pure about each soundscape she has brought to the airwaves. She makes connectivity seem effortless as she traverses the human psyche with delicacy and boldness.
