Night Walks unveil the cathartic ‘Pressure’

Four-piece Night Walks hail from Maryland and pull from classic heartland rock and shimmering modern indie. Formed as an excuse for cheap beer and a light-hearted creative outlet, the band quickly evolved into a broader artistic endeavour. Working with renowned producer Steve Wright, they’ve transformed their initial demo ideas into a refined, emotionally driven sound.

The latest taste of this ‘Pressure’ is an anthemic step forward. With soaring cinema throughout, it laces together chorus-heavy guitars, percussion that commands intrigue and a synth solo.

Somewhere between Sam Fender-esque pop immediacy and unique alt-rock depth, they detail the weight of modern life, uncertainty and worldly pressure. That makes for an energised, slightly nostalgic, very cathartic showcase of the band’s chemistry.

This was probably our first truly collaborative effort as a band,” they share. “It started with Sam (bass), who kinda embarked on a songwriting exercise after being inspired by this War on Drugs track, starting with a “dream,” then describing all this vivid imagery and emotion throughout the song. He sent that around and I (David, frontman) immediately remember getting inspired by it. I was travelling at the time and saved the demo on my phone, jamming along to it and writing a second verse and alternate chorus while sitting on an aeroplane. The original demo is very different, but once we played it as a full band, it just exploded into this unique jam with everyone bringing their flavour to the track.”
