Nur releases ‘Let Me Go’ an amapiano journey of liberation

In her latest single, “Let Me Go,” Nur, the versatile artist hailing from Angola and Portugal and now based in London, unveils a mesmerizing fusion of Amapiano beats and soulful lyricism, marking a profound shift in her musical voyage.

Born Nuria, and known affectionately as Nur, her musical lineage runs deep, tracing back to her father, Angolan singer Eddy Tussa, and her grandfather, the late Roy Mukuna, a luminary of Tanzania’s esteemed band Maquis Original. Nur’s own musical narrative began at a youthful 17 under the moniker Black Beautty, where she seamlessly blended Afro-dance, Afro-pop, R&B, and neo-soul, captivating audiences in Angola and Portugal alike.

“Let Me Go,” Nur’s latest offering, is an intoxicating Amapiano anthem resonating with those navigating the tempestuous seas of heartbreak and emancipating themselves from toxic relationships. Speaking on the genesis of the track, Nur reveals, “The song is about freeing myself from a toxic environment. I was in a situationship with someone who clearly had feelings for me but wouldn’t commit to me. When I confronted for more responsibilities into the relationship, he denied. It’s the reason why I say in the song, ‘You had the keys yet you chose not to enter.’ From there it was a downfall. I told him to let me go but deep down it was me that needed to let him go because I couldn’t believe it was over, even if it was necessary.”

“Let Me Go” serves as a poignant testament to Nur’s journey of self-discovery and empowerment, showcasing her evolution as an artist. With its infectious rhythms and evocative storytelling, the single is poised to enrapture audiences worldwide, solidifying Nur’s position as a luminary in the global music sphere.
