Friends since the fifth grade, newcomer duo Oh Buddy! is comprised of Chase Bader and Conor Kelly, long-term creative partners. After being lauded nationally as part of seven-piece Waker and performing at major festivals, the pair are now settling into the brand new project. Creating dynamic, danceable soundscapes, Oh Buddy! has become sought after for sync partnerships, now emerging with an enticing debut single.
That debut single is ‘Wrong Thing’, a high-energy disco-pop anthem with shining grooving and a brush of captivating nostalgia. A drum line built of pounding four-to-the-floor kicks and energised percussion rhythms sets the foundation for glittery synth melodies, soaring pop strings and funky guitar chords. All of the sparkle in the instrumentation isn’t wasted on the lead vocal, which darts and dives through the dancefloor atmosphere with joyous exuberance and infectiousness.
Chase shares his thoughts on the release, “Where All Your Ends Just Meet” feels like the closing of one door and the opening of another. During the writing and recording of these songs there was so much change in both my life and Conor’s that was good and bad but led to so much positive change. This EP feels like the first step into a new world for us where there are no ceilings and we get to creatively express our vision for the first time with true freedom. Oh Buddy! is an exciting chapter in our lives that we can’t wait to see who it connects with.”
With Conor adding,“Where All Your Ends Just Meet”, is a collection of songs that truly capture Chase and I during some of our most vulnerable moments. From the beginnings of Covid and all the way through the end of last year, we have endured some of life’s highest highs and lowest lows, together. These songs are very special to me in that way, because when I hear them, I can instantly go back to that moment in time and remember just how hard and wonderful life can be. In a lot of ways, listening to these songs feels like watching a movie of the last few years of my life.”
