Ólafur Arnalds releases his decades-hidden soundtrack ‘The Invisible EP’

Originally composed for a historical documentary ten years ago, Icelandic contemporary musician, producer and composer Ólafur Arnalds shares ‘The Invisible EP’, a time capsule into a different time that was discovered on an old hard drive during lockdown. Ólafur has created a stunning soundscape, capturing the themes of the documentary in a musical form in a way that only he could. The documentary, ‘The Invisible Front’, told the story of the Lithuanian resistance against the Soviet Union in World War II so naturally the album is a sensitive construction that revolves around a solemn narrative whilst being beautifully arranged with heart-wrenching piano and strings.

Of the EP, Ólafur says, “I wrote the music on The Invisible EP for a film score over 10 years ago. While sorting through some unreleased material I found these songs buried on an old

hard drive. It’s a funny thing, looking back on your own music. Since I wrote these so many things have changed, in the world, in my career, in my life. But still they resonated with me and I hope that they do with you as well. So, after 10 years on the shelf, here is a time capsule from a different era.”
