Olive Featherstone impresses with debut single ‘Opium Requiem’

Olive Featherstone is set to make an impact with her impressive debut single ‘Opium Requiem’, which announces her arrival on the alternative rock scene as a force to be reckoned with. Exercising virtuosic control over her vocals, Featherstone delivers intoxicating melodies and storytelling lyrics. Accompanied by shimmering guitar, ‘Opium Requiem’ is a record that fans of any genre will be sticking on rotation.

Speaking of her new single, Olive reveals: “I wrote this song at the end of a turbulent relationship with someone who would be awake whilst I was sleeping in the same room – he’d be sat by the window, smoking and watching people go by. I always thought that symbolised the distance we had between us in that relationship.”

Bristol based Olive Featherstone is set to release her debut album ‘I Was Wondering, Lost’ in the fall, produced alongside Calum Wotherspoon. The record explores themes of drug abuse and depersonalisation through Olive’s bitingly honest lyricism; recording it provided her with the chance to process deeply personal events and turn her tale into a mesmerising body of artwork. Olive Featherstone is definitely one to keep your eye on.
