One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson arrested after airport brawl

Louis Tomlinson has now been released following an ‘altercation’ between him and paparazzi at LAX on Saturday (4 March).

Tomlinson and his girlfriend, Eleanor Calder, returned from their holiday in Las Vegas to LAX airport and the confrontation began.

After Tomlinson was surrounded by the paparazzi the incident took place, which led the One Direction singer to be seized under citizens arrest.

A spokesman from the LAPD stated that “Paparazzi were around him, there was some pushing and shoving, one of the paparazzi fell down, and that’s the paparazzi that signed a private person’s arrest.” The 25-year-old singer was later released from police custody on his own recognisance, debunking rumours he had spent $20,000 (£16,000) bail for his release.

Martin Singer, Tomlinson’s lawyer, has since spoken out about the incident alleging the paparazzi had been ‘attacking’ his girlfriend, Calder.

Speaking to Buzzfeed, Martin Singer stated, “The paparazzi provoked and caused the altercation that occurred with Louis at the airport this morning. “This is not the first or last time that a paparazzi has created an altercation with a celebrity. While the altercation was going on with the paparazzi, three other individuals were attacking his girlfriend during this incident and he came to her defence.

According to the BBC, police reports indicate that a court date has been set for 29 March.
