‘Passing Grey’ captivates with funky melodies and soulful vocals from Laraland and Nama

Laraland (previously Lara) is a Melbourne raised and based musician, producer and DJ.

Her affinity with music began while learning classical piano as a child, which then blossomed into a love for jazz piano.

Laraland has previously released 2 albums ‘9 Lives’ and ‘Bored Games’.

Her last album (released in 2021) saw her singles ‘Drifting’, ‘Circles’, ‘Wall’ and ‘Kitty Whisper’ garner thousands of Spotify streams.

Nama is a Melbourne based, Canberra raised bassist and composer.

He started playing music at the age of 5 and by 12 started playing professional jazz gigs across Australia.

Today Nama operates as a freelance bass player, arranger and composer across Melbourne, working closely with up and coming artists and jazz luminaries.

‘Passing Grey’ begins with funky melodies and lo-fi beats and then we are treated to soulful vocals from Laraland.

‘Passing Grey’ captivates us with blissful vocal harmonies and delightful melodic hooks of a jazzy and funky nature.

This track is the musical equivalent of a beautiful rainbow catching our eye on a rainy day.

The title is a nod to the uncertainty and surreal nature of the last two years, where changes and actions can be neither perceived as black or white.
