After recently returning earlier this year to drop the three-track collection ‘Nocturnal’, emerging artist Phephi is looking to continue her string of sleep-theme offerings with the woozy new offering ‘Awake’.
Bringing the same heady blend of R&B and neo-soul aesthetics she has projected over the years, ‘Awake’ makes for an incredibly dense and passionate listen throughout. With her broad and captivating voice layered across an atmospheric production from start to finish, she is certainly looking to draw us in with this immersive new delight.
Adding about ‘Awake’, she said, “Awake is about looking back at progress, specifically with relationships. “Awake” was recorded when I found peace with my past and the situations in which I let myself stay too long. “Awake” means so much to me because it has the ability to transport me back to this place of clarity each time I hear it. I hope that listeners are transported to a new timeline where they feel at peace with the way things are in that moment.”
