Projective drop third single ‘Motions’

Bringing together the sounds of neo-soul, jazz, and hip-hop, the rising collective Projective has released only three singles to date but has received a wide range of praise from across the music press and radio. Alongside this come headline shows throughout Ireland.

The six-piece’s latest single, ‘Motions’, is out now, blending elegance with a laid-back groove. It richly showcases what their sound is all about, warm, key-led melodies and smoky harmonies bookmarking slick rap delivery and shimmering brass bursts.

It’s effortlessly soulful, textured and rhythmic, paying homage to the likes of The Roots and D’Angelo, pioneers in their own right. It’s a modern take on that ‘90s feel.

The band shares, “We all love the female-led hooks that were so abundant in the rap music of that era, and we wanted to try our own version of something like that. We wanted it to be laid back, but catchy and sonically beautiful.

The way we stacked the vocals with all 3 singers on the chorus felt very important to the sound we were going for.”
