Queen Cult releases new single ‘Lollipop’ in anticipation of new E.P

Queen Cult hail from Macclesfield, Cheshire but are reaching people globally with their refreshing take on rock. The band are building up an infamous reputation on the alternative live circuit, quickly becoming THE alternative act to watch, their live show receiving  warm appraisal from fans and critics alike.  Identifying as a queer band, they are at the forefront of a UK scene of femme-led LBGTQ+ artists.

Their latest single ‘Lollipop’ showcasing their unique and infectious sound, whilst giving you a musical taste of what’s to come from their anticipated E.P ‘For Now, Not Forever.’ The track manages to blend alternative and pop together, with their unique sound coming drenched in personality. The track has a hard-hitting instrumental of thrashing drums and distortion soaked guitars. On top, vocals have an aggressive tinge that shines through the mix, working hand in glove with well-penned lyrics.

Speaking about the single, vocalist and guitarist Maisie reveals: “Lollipop was a very spontaneous song to write. I had the main riff for ages. The lyrics describe how your actions can really stall and affect someone else without realising. So this song serves to vocalise the honest and visceral frustration of not knowing how to approach a changing situation.”

After a pandemic-imposed hiatus, Queen Cult returned with their debut EP ‘Woman That I Know’ in January 2022. The critically acclaimed EP landed the band their first DSP support, including the Spotify playlists New Music Friday UK, All New Rock, Rainbow, Pulp, Shockwave and Fresh Finds; Deezer’s Girl’s Rock playlist; YouTube Music’s New Alternative and Tidal’s Indie Britain playlist.

Singles ‘Beautiful Psycho’, ‘Better Believe It’ and ‘It Matters To Me’ followed in April, September and November respectively, gaining the band their first plays on BBC Radio 1, Kerrang and Primordial radio, as well as ongoing support from BBC Introducing. Queen Cult’s second EP, ‘For Now, Not Forever,’ will be released on February 10th 2023,
