Rationale teams up with TS Graye on new soulful duet

Ahead of his massive hometown headline show at London’s 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire next month, Rationale has released his soulful duet with fast-rising UK singer songwriter TS Graye.

Made for late night listening, the track tells the story of the all too painfully familiar memory of drunk texting an ex-lover. In the opening verse, the song features flashes of smooth bluesy guitar and fluttering bass as Rationale longingly sings for a past love. Following the chorus which repeats “I’ve been a fool for you” the song progresses to an upbeat instrumental which carries the track into a buoyant and optimistic state, making for welcome listening to the weary headed when Saturday comes around.

Speaking of the inspiration behind Whiskey Regrets, Rationale said: “‘Whiskey Regrets’ is inspired by a story a friend of mine once told me about drunk texting an ex-lover, only to wake up horrified at his actions the next day.” explains Rationale “Musically speaking, I wanted to dig deeper into my R&B influences, and work with the wonderful talent that is TS Graye.”

Rationale is the moniker of Zimbabwe-born Tinashé Fazakerley. He spent the first eight years of his life in a single room with nine relatives and no electricity in the township of Harare in Zimbabwe, before moving to Camberwell, south London, and finding solace in music. “It’s the one and only place in which I can always feel good in,” he says.

‘Whiskey Regrets’ is the first of several new single releases for 2020, and he will headline London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire on April 9.
