Having already built up a broad and diverse array of releases this past decade, Ohio-based artist Ray Curenton is now looking to showcase his latest studio album ‘Believer, a.k.a. The Last Shall Be The First’ with his anthemic new single ‘Better Place’.
Capturing more of that bright and euphoric energy he has developed a reputation for over the years, ‘Better Place’ is a wonderfully fun and brass-filled dose of much-needed joy. Following in the footsteps of the likes of Stevie Wonder with its uplifting direction, he is certainly looking to get us up and out of our seats with this one.
Speaking about the new offering, he said, “I initially envisioned this song being about the afterlife, but at some point it morphed into a dual hope for a better life here on earth. It means fighting for economic, social, and environmental justice for everyone—I don’t really need pearly gates; I want liberation. I’m calling what I’m doing with this album “Spiritual R&B” because all of it is rooted in the gospel music that I grew up listening to. But my hope is that even if you aren’t a person of faith, the themes and messaging of the music feels good to you and brings you encouragement.”
