Retro Video Club reach for the skies with ‘Cloud Nine’

Edinburgh 4-piece Retro Video Club return with ‘Cloud Nine’, an explosive anthem that seals their status as one of the most promising new bands coming from the region. With its euphoric synth hook supporting frontman Liam’s soaring vocal performance, held together by some towering guitars and propulsive drums, it’s a song destined to be performed at stadiums across the country.

Having always kept live performance at the band’s core, Covid forced a shift in attention from stage to studio. “The uncertainty was terrifying” but the band quickly adapted. As it stands, they’ve got a year’s worth of music ready to go; donning a colossal new sound that frees itself from the constraints of a 4-piece band. “We’re just freer and the songs are more interesting because of it. I’ve always stressed we just write pop songs and just dress them up as an indie rock outfit,” says frontman Liam.

The new single is the second to be taken from a larger body of work due for release later this year. The band have also recently announced a string of UK tour dates, including a huge show at Glasgow’s SWG3.
