REVIEW: The Quilter – ‘Bolt The Door’

After already establishing himself within the Scottish indie scene as a member of French Wives and Smash Williams in recent years, Glasgow-based producer and artist Stuart Dougan has now returned on his own terms as the brains behind The Quilter, a bold and adventurous indie-electro project, which has now unveiled its debut EP ‘Bolt The Door’.

With notable comparisons to the likes of Phoenix and Arcade Fire, ‘Bolt The Door’ sets itself up as a bright and soaring initiative that looks to break convention as often as possible. Measuring uplifting indie-pop tropes with an exploitative approach to production remains the heart and soul of this new collection as he takes on some truly glittering aesthetics in the process.

Opening up with the vibrant ‘The Long Weekend’, this six-track introduction to his sound makes for a compelling listen throughout. His bright and soaring demeanour showcases an artist firmly in control of his direction, and adds another bow to his ever-growing quiver of musical ambitions.
