Richard Orofino begins his year with brilliantly off-centre alt-pop gem ‘Bending’

Richard Orofino continues to push the boundaries of modern day pop. Having had a whirlwind 2021 full of huge successes and an EP to note, the Brooklyn based songwriter always finds a way to create another element of sound within his own, the sign of a truly great artist. He now arrives with new single ‘Bending’ which is a subtly exquisite slice of alt-pop.

Holding a real nostalgic element to the production in this song in particular, ‘Bending’ feels like a song you would hear among the grunge-filled 1990s. Smashing Pumpkins comes to mind instantly, and Richard’s voice possesses so much character and personality, making it such an intriguing listen from start to finish. There’s some pleasant surprises throughout, a low synth bass which perfectly sums up the song, and that is a genre-bending that you’ll have on repeat without even realising.
