Richie Gathu releases infectious summer jam ‘Cosa Nostra’

Rising rapper Richie Gathu returns with his third single of the year, bringing tropical summer vibes with the infectious jam ‘Cosa Nostra’. Over hip-hop beats and a dreamy guitar riff, Richie delivers his smooth rap cadence and a catchy hook. The track offers a vibrant blend of cultures, bringing Swahili influences to the Brit-style head-bopper.

Richie says of his new release: “As soon as I press play on ‘Cosa Nostra’, I’m teleported to Havana, Cuba or to the Amalfi Coast. In my mind, I see a beautiful sunset on the horizon, my body fuelled by 15 (or more) tequila shots as I hit the salsa across a pebbled street toward my lover who is in the exact same vibe as I am. The inspiration for the song stems from lockdown, the endless months of being separated from a lover and planning to “pull up” as soon as I could. I even had to sprinkle some Swahili in there to add extra flavour to the tune!”

Based in Bristol and hailing from Kenya, Richie Gathu is an upcoming artist and self-taught producer whose sound is inspired by his heritage and dual-nationality. Bringing catchy hooks and contagious energy to his music, Richie is set to make waves on the UK rap scene. His new single ‘Cosa Nostra’ was professionally mixed by friend Benji Cooper and mastered by Adam Haggar (Migos, Childish Gambino), and we can’t wait to hear more.
